About
A studio built specifically for defense and aerospace communication.
We exist because general-purpose design agencies struggle with classified contexts, procurement language, and technical depth. Startlights Defense Studio was built to close that gap.
Who we are
Senior procurement writers + technical designers.
Experience across defense accelerators, framework bids, and program office reviews. We engage at the engineering level — EO/IR, SWaP, cyber, autonomy.
Why we exist
Most defense companies are invisible to the buyers who matter.
The technology is real. The operational advantage is demonstrable. But the pitch deck reads like a datasheet, the website was built for a software company, and the capability statement buries the lead in the third paragraph.
Procurement officers, prime contractors, and government agencies make shortlist decisions based on materials they have 90 seconds to review. If your communication fails that context, the underlying technology never gets evaluated.
We built Startlights Defense Studio to solve this specific problem — producing procurement-grade communication that earns the next meeting, the RFI response, or the qualification call.
60 days
Average time from first asset delivery to first qualified procurement response.
NDA-only
Every engagement operates under mutual NDA. Zero public disclosure without authorization.
EO/IR · UAS · Cyber
Verticals where we have deep technical engagement experience.
Principles
How we think about the work.
Clarity over complexity.
Procurement evaluators read dozens of documents a week. Dense, jargon-heavy materials get skimmed or shelved. We strip away noise and leave only what moves a decision forward.
Outcomes, not features.
Buyers don't procure specifications. They procure capabilities that solve defined problems. Every piece of messaging we write is anchored to operational outcome, not product attribute.
NDA-first by default.
We do not publish client names, project details, or technical specifications without explicit written authorization. Discretion is the foundation of every engagement.
Technical fluency, not translation.
We understand EO/IR payloads, SWaP constraints, and dual-use certification paths. We don't need your team to simplify for us — we engage at the engineering level.
Technical fluency
Where our depth applies.
EO/IR, SWaP, cyber, autonomy — we write in the language of your evaluators, not around it.
EO/IR & Sensors
Electro-optical and infrared payloads, targeting systems, surveillance sensors.
Unmanned Systems
UAS / UAV platforms, autonomous ground vehicles, loitering munitions.
Homeland Security
Border surveillance, critical infrastructure protection, command & control.
Cybersecurity
Defense-grade cyber, secure communications, signals intelligence.
Aerospace
Satellite systems, launch vehicles, space situational awareness.
Dual-Use Technology
Technologies spanning commercial and defense applications simultaneously.
Security & data handling
How we protect your information.
Every client engagement is covered by a mutual NDA signed before any briefing or material is shared. Client identities, technology descriptions, and project details are never published, referenced, or disclosed without explicit written authorization.
We do not maintain a public portfolio of defense work. If you need references or past project evidence, we can arrange direct client introductions under separate NDA.
Security policy
- We never request classified material.
- Access limited to core team.
- Encrypted storage — access logged.
- Deletion on request after delivery.
- No freelancers for sensitive content unless explicitly approved by client.
- We destroy or archive on agreed policy post-delivery.
Anonymized specimen
Structure only — no client data.
The layouts below illustrate structural approach. All identifying information is removed.
